Enjoy an exciting three days learning the secrets of watercolor painting with an "old pro." Bud has a
"down to earth" approach and will share with you his years of experience. Your watercolors will become
more spontaneous, interpretive and a lot more fun to do! His demonstrations and talks each day will take
you through all the steps necessary to turn a simple black and white sketch into a finished painting worthy
of any wall. The first day will begin with a demonstration and a short talk on sketching for finished work.
That afternoon, we will drive to interesting sketching sights, and naturally, sketch. Bring your digital
camera for fun and for references photos. The next two days we will spend at the ranch (around the pool)
where we will take our own location drawings and turn them into larger, more complete paintings. There
will be lots of individual attention for each artist. Bud will do mini-demos to help solve artistic problems.
For example "how in the heck do I make my tree look like that tree?!" You are encouraged to bring
samples of your work for individual review.
Bud is a graduate of the prestigious Art Center School in Pasadena, CA. He spent many years in Chicago as
commercial illustrator with clients such as World Book Encyclopedia and The Sunbeam Corp. Upon retirement he
moved to New Mexico. He now paints full-time and teaches. He is adept at oils and pastels. This year he was the 1st
place winner in the Pastel Society of New Mexico National Exhibition Show and won several awards at the 2007 Master
works of New Mexico Show. He shows in several Galleries and is a Signature Member of the NM Watercolor Society
and the NM Pastel Society. Bud's work has been featured in the American Artist Magazine, The Pastel Journal and
Focus Santa Fe. http://www.budedmondson.com
