Carolyn will take you through all the steps to paint
figures in a true-life western ranch setting. This
comprehensive but compressed 3-day workshop
will include how to use small plein air studies and
photography to compose and finish a larger, more
complex painting in the studio.
On day one, Carolyn will demonstrate creating a
small plein air study, then students will strive to
capture accurate values and colors in fast studies
prior to longer poses.
The next two days will be spent plein air painting,
planning a larger, more complex piece, and
continuing painting inside a beautiful, light-filled
workshop space! Carolyn will do mini-demos on
mixing colors and applying paint to achieve a true
and natural likeness of models in a natural setting.
She will also show examples of classic figurative
paintings from around the world for inspiration and
discussion.
There will be lots of individual attention for each
artist and you are encouraged to bring samples of
your work for individual review.
