The Workshop:
Enjoy four days exploring the process of
portrait painting. Students will understand
and learn to paint the following: the
temperature of the light raking across the
model's face; facial planes; drawing and
painting features; relating values, color
temperature, and edges; and achieving a
likeness of the model. Fred will take you
through all the steps necessary to paint a
portrait. The first day he will demonstrate
how to mix flesh colors, accurately place the
features on your canvas, establish value
ranges, and paint facial planes. That
afternoon and the next three days are all
painting, with Fred doing mini-demos on
painting features and achieving a likeness.
There will be lots of individual attention for
each artist and you are encouraged to bring
samples of your work for individual review.
